shared kids room

I need to fix up the kids bedroom and have been searching for shared boy/girl room ideas.
This caught my eye right off the bat. 
I think I love the beds and striped rug the best.
My budget is, well, there isn't one. 
So I am trying to work with what we have.
I may buy some paint.
Or see if I can find some twin bed frames on craigslist.
Nate and I talked about taking a saw to the Ikea bunk the kids have been sleeping in.
It was a hand-me-down.
Very practical, but not so pretty.
Maybe we try it and I spray paint them white?
Or is that asking for trouble?

The room is just fine as is but I want to have it ready to put on the market by next April.
Have any great boy/girl room ideas?
