Baby steps

I picked up a book off the shelf while at Nate's parents house for Christmas.

It's kind of changing my life.

I don't love goals, so keep in mind, this has NOTHING to do with New Years goals.
It just so happens that I picked up the book when I did.

"Anti Cancer"
David Servan-Schreiber,MD, PHD

Pick up a copy or check it out of your library.

I am not starting a new diet.
I am not buying supplements.
I haven't sworn off anything.
I have just been thinking about it before I make it or put it in my mouth.
Or my family's mouths.

Will have an inflammatory response?
Will this spike my insulin levels?
What were the animals feed who provided this food, and how were they treated?

Week 1:

Picked up some decaf green tea to drink.  I usually drink fennel seed tea at night, and I have been switching it up with green tea.
Yum.  Especially when it is a cold 55 degrees here in So-Cal.

Made Honey wheat bread in the bread machine instead of my usual white bread loaf.

Snacking on 70% dark cocoa instead of candy or chocolate chips.

Made granola for the kid's cereal in the mornings.
oats, barley,quinoa,all-bran, raisins, honey, pure maple syrup, olive oil, salt, cinnamon and cocoa powder.
I think that was it.  I added what I had on hand.
Baked on a cookie sheet at 250 for 30 min., mixing at 15.
They were snacking on it tonight so hopefully they will eat it with milk in the mornings.

There are other changes I would like to make that are not in the budget right now, namely organic dairy.

I have only had 1 diet pepsi a day for the last 3 days.
Do you know me?
That's kind of unreal.
It just hasn't sounded good.
Like I said, I'm not swearing off anything, it's just how it's been the last few days.
