I love making lists.
I was in college when I was first introduced to a planner.
Thanks Brit.
It changed my life.
I specifically remembered the goals I wrote down that summer.
In my planner.
"-get tan
-get skinny
-grow out nails"
I can believe I was that shallow.
But to give myself a break,
I was playing the dating game at that time in my life.
I was a peacock in the animal kingdom preening it's feathers.
Preparing for the next phase.
Funny that it happened 5 years later.
And if I recall,
I was not tan, skinny, or have long nails.
I got fake one's put on for the wedding.
Fast Forward 10 years.
Technology.
With the stickie note function on our Mac,
I have not used a pen and paper in quite some time for list making.
I realized a few weeks ago that something was missing from my life.
I drove over to Franklin Covey,
and I bought some refill pages for my beloved planner.
It has been a sweet reunion.
My stickie notes on the desktop are still used,
but when I'm feeling nostalgic for the old days,
I pull out the planner and let the pen do the talking.
Now,
we are flying to Oregon for 10 days on Saturday.
This is our first time flying as a family of 5.
Am I nervous?
Depends.
I have however started making my lists.
With pen and paper.
It feels good.
I will get out the suitcase today and start checking things off.
Ahhh.
A trip of this magnitude requires a few days of planning.
If you asked me what goals I might write down these days,
they might read something like this:
"Enjoy your babies. They are growing up too fast."
And lets be honest,
I am still trying to get skinny.
And I know better about sun damage, skin cancer, and wrinkles to want to get a tan.
And it really is not practical to have long nails when you are wiping bums all day.
My fast growing babies, and me enjoying them.
