Today my first born turns 4!My baby boy.
He amazes me everyday.
And he drives me crazy, but that's not important now.
He has survived 4 years with us, and us with him.
I love all my kids more that words, but there is something slightly different about the first born.
They are the guinea pig.
Beckham was the test subject for our parenthood experiment.
It may mean he'll be the first to need therapy in adulthood.
We can only pray that he is not permanently scarred from the learning curve.
He got birthday balloons and a card with his breakfast, and the day will be his.

Beckham is ALWAYS on the move.
His body and his mind.
He is so sensitive to others emotions and wants nothing more that to have everyone happy.
It is more than humbling when he comes to me with his big brown eyes, puts one hand on his hip, and the other one to help explain himself, and asks me if I am happy.
"Be happy Mom.  I'm sorry.  Don't be mad."
EVERYBODY is his friend.
He is so happy running around with other kids.
He always has a better option than what I have asked him to do.
"Well Mom, I have a good Idea, how about I clean up tomorrow."
I LOVE hearing him imagine and pretend play.
He's a smart one.
Full of love and brains and energy.
I am such a lucky Momma.

Four year olds are fantastic! Enjoy it!!!

Damon and I have joked before about how in the pre-existence all the siblings must have pointed at Gavin and said, "you go first." Or he drew the short straw, or something. Because you are so right, the first born constantly catches you off guard and trains you. I've been such a better mom with the second two.
