For those of you who know me, I tend to complain about the weather here in sunny southern California.
Call me crazy, but the same sunny day gets a little old after awhile.
I am always wishing for seasons, you know, actual weather.
Well, this week we are having actual weather.
The first of the storms knocked out the power for about 9 hours. The second and third days flooded the yard and all those beautiful pavers Nate worked so hard on are undone. The water has drained now, but we have trash all over the yard that came in from the flooded storm drain next to our driveway. I had to chase the garbage cans which were being swept away in the fast current that was our street.
Sounds dramatic huh? Well it was, for people who don't have real weather.
While I am enjoying the novelty of the storms, I am extremely thankful that our home is on a raised foundation, and that we stayed dry inside. And I am mindful of those who are cleaning mud and water out of their homes and cars, and praying that no lives are put in danger.
That being said, It does feel like home. I am still an Oregonian at heart, and a little rain is good for the soul.

welcome to el nino in so cal!!!!!
glad you guys didn't get washed away!
and the pavers still look great, even though they are crumbling away. dang.
I'm so sorry to see that patio fall apart. Hopefully a little shoring up could fix it. But I bet the kids loved it, maybe. You know, I remember those few days a year growing up, when the rain was so bad that we stayed cooped up. Those are some of my fondest memories, with rain like that being so rare, and then the fire got lit and sometimes we baked and sometimes we read and sometimes we watched movies during the middle of the day. That's the great thing about california, you can make rare, crazy rain days wonderful special days for the kids
