Cherries up ahead!

How excited was I when I looked out the window this afternoon and saw this fabulous little fruit stand? SO EXCITED. I grabbed the kids and we ran over barefoot and bought ourselves a big bag of cherries. SO YUMMY. I was even more excited when they said they would be there all season. Oh the goodness.

We are loving our neighborhood, the neighbors we have met, the local eateries, and the fact that we have a house to do work on. It is all the work we expected it to be. Everyday Nate comes home, changes clothes and gets busy. He tackled the ant issue and it's been 2 whole days since I've seen one inside. We are planning a renovation on the house, but our savings account needs to be filled up again before we can even think about that, so in the mean time, we are doing what we can to make it comfortable for us now.

We feel so blessed to live by the ocean and in such a diverse city. My sister was here for the Ragnar relay race we did a few weeks ago and when the Cabbie dropped her and her friend off at my house he got out and started speaking Armenian to me. Ahhh. I was in heaven. My neighbors speak Spanish, so I am trying to learn some and help Mary with her English. And, Saturday night, Nate and I went to a local Greek restaurant called Papadakis and had so much fun. San Pedro was a settlement for many Greeks, Italians, and Croatians as it is a fishing town, and now, the Port of Los Angeles. It has one of the largest Croatian populations outside of Croatia. I know this could be considered boasting, but I think everybody needs a chance to discover the little ins and outs of where they live, and that's what gives us a sense of community. Nate and I were really worried about having that, as well as safety for our family when we were looking to buy a home. Mainly because of the areas we could afford, and the fact that we wanted to stay in close to Nate's work and school. We definitely had it where we moved from, and I am happy to know that we picked another wonderful place to call home.

This is a great article written by a former USC football player, and owner of Papadakis Greek Restaurant here in San Pedro if you have some time to read it.

It really sounds (and looks) like you live in a great place. Fun fruit stand. I can just imagine you running out there with your cute kiddos.

Oh what I wouldn't give for a BIG back of cherries right now! Summer is on it's way although it doesn't seem like it outside here in Oregon. Can't wait for all the fresh goodness!

And I love the video of Marley walking around. What a sweet little girl. She definitely looks like a Welling. I immediately saw your dad and lissa in her.
