New Mexican Fiesta: Part 1

McDonalds Exhibitionist:
We left bight and early (2am) saturday morning and began our drive to New Mexico to spend the holidays with my family. Around 6am we had to pull over on the side of the road and sleep for a half hour. Before we started to drive, we noticed Beckham had wet through everything! We changed his pants and clothes in 20 degree weather on the side of the road, put a blanket down in the car seat to cover the wetness, and started off again. Around 10am we thankfully pulled into a McDonalds in Flagstaff, AZ and sat down to some Chicken nuggets and fries. I changed the boys pants right when we got there and thought he'd be good for awhile. As we were leaving, I smelled the stink and thought no biggie, I'll run in and change him again. As I went to pick him up out of the highchair, my hands dug into some slime. This was a major blow out. On the McD's highchair, soaked through all the clothes, in the hair etc. Just the kind of thing you want to have happen at a McDonalds in flagstaff. Nate ran out to the car to grab some clean clothes, wipes and diaper, and met me in the womens restroom, there were no paper towels, no changing table, nothing. I'm freaking out, I make Nate come into the women's restroom to help. I stuck the boy in the sink, leaving a trail of diareah, pealed off the clothes, further spreading the stuff in his hair, and proceeded to bath him in the sink with the hand soap, noting that the holes in the drain were not large enough for any "chunks" to go down. As Beckham is drawing on the mirror with the poo, 3 women come into the bathroom at once and freeze, first seeing Nate standing there, and then me with the naked baby in the sink and poo all over. Nate panicked and left, leaving me there. I panicked realizing that all these women were going to need the sink, I did one more scrub and rinse and there was no where to lay him to put on the diaper and clothes, so I took off my sweater, and wraped the naked baby up, grabed the dirty clothes, and ran, leaving a huge disgusting mess behind me. I ran outside, in the snow with the naked baby and dressed him in the car. We stuck the poo clothes in the bag with the pee clothes from earlier that morning and took off. I totally had a mom moment. Needless to say, I think I may understand the disgusting bathrooms I have come across on roadtrips. We pluged our noses and got to my parents house a few hours later. 13 hours total, and aside from the incident, Beckham did great. I am still laughing at the situation, and I think on our way home, we will opt for Carl's Jr. instead. More adventures to come, I'm sure.
